MUSIC EDUCATION
Dr. Peter Holsberg is the Director of Instrumental Music at Brunswick Middle School, assuming this position for the 2024-2025 school year . Prior to Brunswick, he was appointed in 2022 as Dean and Professor at the Alliance University School of Music after serving as a Trumpet and Music Education professor for the previous decade. Before moving into a full time role at Alliance, Dr. Holsberg served for 3 years as the Director of Instrumental Music at Talent Unlimited High School, a performing arts high school in New York City and 10 years as the Arts Director and Chair of Music at The Berkeley Carroll School, a Pre-K-12 independent school in Brooklyn, NY. Prior to coming to Berkeley Carroll, Dr. Holsberg was the founding member of the award-winning music program at St. Benedict’s Preparatory School in Newark, NJ and Director of Fine and Performing Arts. As an administrator and teacher at these schools, Dr. Holsberg created innovative, inclusive, and highly successful music programs.
Dr. Holsberg’s eclectic career as a professional trumpet player has carried him across the globe: in New York City and throughout North America and Europe, his credits include the Broadway shows Cats, Carousel, Crazy for You, Camelot, and A Chorus Line as well as numerous performances with regional symphonies, jazz and chamber ensembles, salsa bands, and popular music artists, including the Motown legends The Temptations. Dr. Holsberg holds degrees from Columbia University, SUNY Stony Brook, and Duquesne University.
