PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Fordham Jazz Workshop is designed to support high school jazz musicians aspiring to reach the next level of their jazz education. Consisting of five week-long sessions, the program provides students (grades 9–12) a unique jazz immersion experience unlike anything else in the heart of the jazz capital of the world, New York City. Students participate in big band, combo, instrumental studio classes, and elective classes in ear training, history, recording, composition/arranging, and performance practices. The faculty, comprised of renowned jazz musicians, guide the students through a robust and eclectic curriculum that will inspire and prepare the students for future growth in jazz. The Fordham Jazz Workshop is hosted in collaboration with Fordham University at the Fordham College at Lincoln Center campus in Manhattan. Non-audition, placement evaluation only.

 

ELIGIBILITY

Middle School Students (grades 6–8)
Middle school students attend the program as day participants only, from 9:30am to 4:00pm, and may register for any of the five weeks.
Current eighth grade students are welcome to register for either the middle school track or the high school track depending on their experience and comfort level in jazz.

 

High School Students (grades 9–12)
High school students may attend as commuters (9:00am to 5:30pm daily) or as residential students living in the Fordham University dorms. All five weeks are open to high school participants.

 

College Students
Currently enrolled college students may register for a dedicated college track offered during Weeks 1 and 2. College participants may attend as commuters or as residential students. Enrollment for college students is limited to these first two weeks.
