Originally from Medellin, Colombia, Juan Montoya begun playing drums and percussion at age 14 and has performed with notable ensembles and bands throughout the United States, South America and Europe.

 

He received his Music Bachelors degree from University EAFIT in Medellin and Masters of Music degree from College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati.

 

Juan has been working for the education department at Jazz at Lincoln Center since 2013 and drum instructor at Fordham University since 2019.
