Kevin Farrell was raised just north of San Francisco in Rohnert Park, California. His first musical encounter was with the piano in the third grade. Drum lessons soon followed. At age 12, with the encouragement of a friend of the family, Kevin, then already an award-winning soloist, auditioned for the Jazz Band at the local college where he assumed the drum chair. By age 13 he was gigging regularly all over the San Francisco Bay Area.
A call from a dear friend who had just landed a publishing deal with Sony led Kevin to New York where he currently resides. It was here where he honed his composition skills. During this time, he performed and recorded with heavyweights such as Joey Calderazzo, Tigran Hamasyan, Jose James, Bennie Maupin, Mark Whitfield, BD Wong, The Mingus Big Band, Bat for Lashes, Allen Tousaint, and Asobi Seksu, as well as session work for Sony, BBC, GQ, 4AD, Banana Republic, Dreamworks, Hollywood Records and EMI.
In 2010, a fateful meeting with multi-platinum producer Mario Winans led to recordings at Daddy's House Studios for Bad Boy Records. This year long collaboration resulted in Kevin garnering performance and co production credits for artists on the Bad Boy roster as well as tracks for Drake, Jennifer Hudson, Diddy, Toni Braxton, Musique Soulchild, Lil’ Wayne, Rick Ross, and Cassie. In 2016, Kevin launched his own production studio KFM which has won spots on network television, major brands and feature films. Kevin is currently a faculty member at Mercy College and Fordham University.
